Inspections for bed bugs by Dogs
We demonstrate our dog prior to every search. We can demonstrate using live bed bugs where she will "hit" as well as dead bed bugs which she will pass. Ask your prospective handler or canine team if they will do this. The majority will refuse. We have all read and seen where canines have not only missed bed bugs or they indicated there were bed bugs where they were none. We do several things to ensure you dont have any doubts about the veracity of our canine inspection service. First if our dog indicates bed bugs we search the area for signs of bed bugs like markings, eggs that have been deposited in cracks and crevices, caste skins (this is the exoskeleton of the insect it sheds as it grows), and live bugs. If nothing is found we recommend installing climb-ups to monitor. Bed Bug populations are ever expanding as female bed bugs lay 1-5 eggs a day. In a household with people present and ongoing feeding is easily obtained egg production moves up and increases in intensity so 3-5 eggs PER female is common. So eventually the infestation of bed bugs will be present either through trapping an insect or by the resident capturing an insect. We use a canine to detect bed bugs because the sooner you catch the problem the easier it is to eliminate the problem and there is less chance they will spread. We are talking not only of spread to neighbors but also to friends, family , work and more.
We have two full time bed bug dogs in the field. Lil Bit and Bella were trained by J&K Canine Academy and our dogs are trained to sign on live insects and viable eggs only! We will show you how they work.
We can provide a complete inspection of residential, commercial or institutional properties pinpointing exact areas of infestation much quicker and more accurately than a trained technician. In fact dogs have been proven to be 95% accurate as compared to a 35% accuracy rating for a tech. In addition they are much faster, less intrusive, and of course cute and fuzzy.
We also offer manual inspections performed by our highly trained technicians throughout the tri-state area. Not as good as dogs but may be easier on the budget. You may want to just buy some climb-ups as these are very accurate over time.
